New York Fashion Week is quickly approaching which mean designers are making sure to secure their spot in the show.
Even rapper Kanye West who was rumored to present his Yeezy Season 5 collection. It seems as though everyone else knew about this news except for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). The CDFA recently sent out a statement saying that Kanye didn't notify them to secure his spot. C'mon Kanye!
According to E!, the CEO of the CFDA stated, "Once again, CFDA was not approached or consulted about the possibility of Kanye West showing on the official New York Fashion Week schedule. As the scheduler of the week, the CFDA works with more than 300 brands to identify appropriate times for them to show their collections and avoid scheduling conflicts. Not going through the proper channels is disruptive to the whole week and unfair to designers who have secured spots through the formal procedure."
Guess Kanye can't get his way every time, huh?
Because Ye pulled this stunt, he's officially not going to be listed for the NYFW schedule. The CFDA felt that type of behavior isn't allowed at New York Fashion Week, or in the fashion industry period. However, they are more than willing to work with Kanye to properly secure a time slot for the show if he goes through the proper procedure.
We'll see if Kanye can play by the rules this once.
