Serving as a bridesmaid is a rite of passage for women in their twenties and thirties, but for many people, this also involves wearing a dress that will end up stuffed in the back of your closet, never to be worn again.
If you’ve been in a friend or relative’s wedding and secretly hated the dress you donned that day, it turns out you’re not alone. A survey done by by the fashion brand Simply Be (shared by Express.Co.Uk) found that nearly 78 percent of women polled (they talked to more than 1,000 women) disliked their bridesmaid’s dress, and that many of the women also hated being asked to pay for their own dress for the ceremony.
However, despite our strong feelings on some of these looks, it turns out bridesmaids are a polite bunch too. Eighty-six percent of those surveyed said that they believed that they should just accept the dress they’re told to wear without complaining about it. However, two percent said that they would rather opt out of the wedding rather than wear an unflattering dress.
If you’re the one celebrating your special day, you can help your bridal party feel more comfortable by staying away from peach, pistachio green, yellow, and lilac, as those were the least popular shades of dresses among those polled.
