Kendrick Lamar Makes History With Pulitzer Prize Win for Music

Congratulations to Kendrick Lamar who made history with a Pulitzer Prize win for his album DAMN.

Host Dana Canedy made the announcement on behalf of the organization on Monday afternoon.

The 11-time Grammy award winning rapper has been applauded by the likes of many music lovers including former president Barack Obama. For the DAMN album, Lamar enlisted the help of Los Angeles jazz musicians and challenged the audience on D.N.A providing three different sounds elements each with its own style.

The Pulitzer Prize is an award for achievements in newspaper, magazine, online journalism, literature and musical composition.  Twenty-two categories are represented with twenty of the award recipients receives a certificate and $15,000 cash award.
