The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, or ASCAP for short, will honor Notorious B.I.G. with a Founders Award at the 30th Annual Rhythm And Soul Music Awards. The Founders Award is reserved for prolific artists who have made a pioneering contribution to music and is considered ASCAP's most prestigious award.
The award will be accepted by Biggie's mother Voletta Wallace, Faith Evans and his children.
ASCAP President Paul Williams said of Notorious B.I.G.-
Biggie was a legend in his own time and his legacy lives on through his music. Like all songwriters, he was a master storyteller, but it was the realism in his rhymes that captured so many.
Well deserved.
