Student at Center of Howard Scandal to Sue School for $10 Million, Lawyer Says
Howard University student, Tyrone Hankerson Jr. is planning to sue the university for $10 million for leaking his financial records.
A whistleblower posted on Medium about a student employee who had embezzled over $400,000 in funds for low-income students. After the post was taken down, six financial aid employees were fired for misappropriating funds.
For the past week students have been protesting with a list of demands, including the resignation of Howard president, Wayne Frederick.
Hankerson, who often posted pictures of his expensive clothes on Instagram, maintains his innocence and says “his life has been turned upside down.”
Should the school be liable for revealing the students financial records? Even if he did steal the funds?
