An attorney for MSNBC host Joy Reid says that the FBI has opened an investigation into the alleged hacking of online accounts belonging to MSNBC host Joy Reid.

This week, Reid said homophobic posts on her old blog were the result of someone hacking into her email accounts.

The attorney for Reid, John H. Reichman tells the media that the FBI was looking into "potential criminal activities surrounding several online accounts, including personal email and blog accounts, belonging to Joy-Ann Reid."

The controversy was stirred this month after somebody on Twitter published screenshots from Reid's old blog. Those postings had references to Reid being anti gay marriage and cringing "at the sight of two men kissing."

MSNBC has stood by Reid thus far. Will she ultimately survive the fallout from this story? Is this a story for the FBI to be investigating?
