The culinary world was crushed upon the news of chef Anthony Bourdain’s suicide. For perfecting classic dishes to his struggle with drugs, here are some things you may not have known about the globe-trotting chef.

Bourdain dropped out of college and struggled with drugs. Bourdain started his education at Vassar College but dropped out after two years, he finished at Culinary Institute of America. Although he recovered, he struggled with cocaine and heroin.

Bourdain was a father of a daughter, Ariane, 11. He also was very much in love with actress Asia Argento who he started dating in 2017.

Although Bourdain steered clear of airport food but knew how to find the best food in any city by posting on food discussion boards and making up a place where he ate and people would be eager to offer a better alternative.
