Get On The Nostalgia Train: Rugrats is Coming Back!
That’s right! Tommy, Chuckie and the gang return with some new faces in a reboot of the classic 90’s cartoon.
Nickelodeon has confirmed that it has ordered 26 new episodes of the classic 90’s animated show Rugrats following successful reboots of Double Dare and Hey Arnold!
Nickelodeon President Sarah Levy said in a statement:
“‘Rugrats’ is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures […] What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: Kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”
Rugrats debuted back in 1991 and was one of the most successful animated franchises of the decade. The last time we’ve heard from the Pickles Family was in 2008 in the series Rugrats: All Grown Up which ran from 2003-2008.
Nickelodeon has other reboot projects in the works including many of their popular Nicktoon’s lineup from the early and mid-90’s including Rocko’s Modern Life and Hey Arnold!
Oh, and for no reason whatsoever – check out the picture of Coolio with the Rugrats gang. I don’t know what “The Splat” is – but I’m pretty sure I don’t want any part of it.
