We've all been there ... Either in line getting a Slurpee, or eating ice cream on the couch. We go to take that third or fourth delicious bit then wham! A strong case of sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia kicks in out of no where!

For those who don't speak doctor or know complex medical terms off the top of their heads. Sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia is what we call on the street a "Brain Freeze". But why does it happen?? I thought about this while in line at the store today. The lady behind me looked like she was melting for a split second. Her eyes welling up with tears, and grasping the counter with her hands, to me it looked really over the top but after doing so research a brain freeze affects everyone differently

So I decided to find out what really happens to you when you get a brain freeze!

Some of the symptoms include:

  1. Quick onset of head pain, peaking within 30 to 60 seconds of cold exposure.
  2. Intense, stabbing pain in the forehead and temples.
  3. Pain that resolves within a few seconds to a few minutes after it begins.

Then I ended up down the youtube worm hole. I found a bunch of videos of people, video taping their animals having a brain freeze. Random thoughts take you to the strangest of places! I'm happy it brought me here though because while I don't really like cats, it is funny watching them go through a brain freeze. LOL! Enjoy!
