Kehlani Announces New Upcoming Mixtape On Instagram

A new bundle of joy isn’t the only thing that singer Kehlani will be dropping soon. 

According to an Instagram post that the “Did I” singer recently posted, she’s dropping her new upcoming mixtape, While We Wait sometime this month.

“While We Wait ….the mixtape. coming this month,” she wrote as a caption for a photo of her reflection in a small mirror while standing in a flower-printed room.

The 23-year-old artist has been heavily preparing for motherhood and sharing her journey via Instagram. This week, she shared a photo of herself participating in a “blessing ceremony” that the singer’s mom gave for her.

repost @sumistouch ???? my village. ・・・ In western society we celebrate with baby showers. We all come together play games and buy gifts that are mostly directed for the baby. However none of those things are needed. That crib does nothing for you when the baby is up all night and you're exhausted. The clothes aren't what regulates the babies temperature, heart rate, breathing, and calms their little nervous systems. Soooooo many people go from being surrounded by people and stuff to feeling like an island, isolated, alone, overwhelmed, depressed, anxious and discouraged....This is why in indigenous cultures we have rituals and ceremony that nurtures the birthing person as they step into the unknown. Those who have experienced birth give wise words of wisdom. Those who say they will show up pledge their allegiance. We pray. We eat. We do limpias, smudge, sing songs, and honor this sacred journey. The idea is that the birthing person feels loved and knows who they can call in the middle of the night. * * * Within traditional midwifery we see the person as a holistic being and honor all of their experiences. We prioritize connection. The first time we touch our clients (with consent always) isn't just in labor. We show our love and honor them through the actions of massage, feeding them, traditional body work (like pictured above), and listening to them. * * * To stop the cycle of celebrating in such superficial ways we must teach our children.
