Lady Gaga Defends Cardi B After GRAMMYs Backlash: ‘She Is Brave’
Lady Gaga isn’t here for anyone who is bullying Cardi B.
Gaga took to Twitter to defend Cardi, who quit Instagram earlier this week after facing backlash for her Best Rap Album GRAMMY win.
“It is so hard to be a woman in this industry,” Gaga wrote. “What it takes, how hard we work through the disrespectful challenges, just to make art. I love you Cardi.”
“You deserve your awards,” she added. “Let’s celebrate her fight. Lift her up & honor her. She is brave.”

Both GRAMMY winners are known for their empowering messages and award-winning music, but the two only met for the first time at Sunday night’s show. According to reports, Cardi, who has reportedly been a fan of Gaga’s since she was in high school, approached the “Shallow” singer in a fangirl moment.
Cardi’s decision to quit Instagram came on the heels of a historic win as the first female rapper in history to take home the Best Rap Album award.
Almost immediately, social media users and even a few celebs like Ariana Grande shared their disappointment in Cardi’s win over rappers like Travis Scott, Nipsey Hussle, Pusha T and the late Mac Miller.
Before deleting her account, Cardi took to Instagram to record an angry message over the backlash.
“I’m seeing a lot of bulls–t today and I saw a lot of s–t last night,” she said. “I’m sick of this s–t. I work hard for my mother f–king album.”
