Pharrell will be hosting a new upcoming festival in his hometown of Virginia Beach during college beach weekend.
Titled “The Something in the Water,” the festival will take place from Apr. 26 to Apr. 28 and will feature music, sports activities, panel discussions, and various other events, according to local news channel WTKR.
“This has the potential to be just the ultimate win-win for everybody,” said Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer.
VA Beach’s city council are in hopes that the festival will change the vibe of the popular beach weekend. Last year, three people were shot during the weekend.
“I think it’s the real answer with culturally relevant solutions for a weekend that’s had a lot of problems,” said City Councilman David Nygaard.
As of now, 24 artists have signed on to perform during the festival, but the release of the artist names has been delayed.
