Pothole Payouts Are Possible
We all love the time of year when the weather starts to break away from the harsh winter blizzards to the warming sensation of the spring time. One trade off that comes with that time of year in the state of Michigan are the inevitable potholes. If you have been driving in Michigan, you know some potholes are more tolerable than others but for the ones that do more damage than loving, there is a way to take less of a hit to your own wallet.
Depending on where you are (Wayne Co., Oakland Co., Macomb Co., etc.) your reimbursement for damages and response time may vary. Below is data from the Detroit Free Press in regards to the payouts from Detroit and local counties
- In Macomb County, people submitted 699 claims and 8, or 1.1 percent, were approved. Payouts totaled $2,758.
- In Oakland County, people submitted 367 claims and 2, or .5 percent, were approved. Payouts totaled $417.
- In Wayne County, people submitted 627 claims and 41, or 6.5 percent, were approved. Payouts totaled $13,548.
- In Detroit, people submitted 133 claims and 28, or 21 percent, were approved. Payouts totaled $12,069.
