Whitmer to propose hike at budget address today (Tuesday)

Legislators estimate it would bring in between $2.5-$2.6 billion.

The money would go to overhaul Michigan’s tattered infrastructure in attempts to fix Michigan roads.

She told Flashpoint with Devin Scillian that she thinks the word tax gets a bad rap.

“That word has been so vilified,” Whitmer said. “It’s destructive to a conversation we have to talk about investing in ourselves.”

Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey said he wants to hear the details of the governor’s budget address but would rather concentrate on lowering auto insurance rates before considering a gas tax.

Tuesday’s budget address doesn’t deal with infrastructure alone. Expect to hear more detail on how Whitmer expects to fund $507 million more for K-12 education.

Will Smith Set to Play Venus and Serena Williams’ Dad in Biopic

Will Smith is set to star as Venus and Serena Williams’ dad, Richard Williams, in a new biopic.

The film will document the story of how Williams raised his daughters in Compton, California and wrote a 78-page plan on how his daughters would become pro tennis players.

As you may or may not know, Richard had no formal training in tennis but would teach his daughters the sport and catapult them to superstar status in the sport.

Actor and Central Ohio native Luke Perry has passed away

Luke Perry, who gained instant heartthrob status as wealthy rebel Dylan McKay on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” died Monday after suffering a massive stroke, his publicist said. He was 52.

Perry was surrounded by family and friends when he died, publicist Arnold Robinson said.

The actor had been hospitalized since last Wednesday, after a 911 call summoned medical help to his home in the Sherman Oaks section of Los Angeles.

“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning,” Robinson said in a statement.

Those at Perry’s bedside included his children, Jake and Sophie; fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer; former wife, Minnie Sharp, and mother Ann Bennett.
