D Bag Of The Day: A Serial Bank Robber Turns Out to Be a Neuroscientist with a PhD!?

We're not sure what this guy's motive was...but crippling student debt is a good guess . . .

Cops in San Diego have been looking for a serial bank robber who's pulled off several heists in the last few months.  The first one happened back in December.

And last week, they finally arrested a 43-year-old guy named Karl Doron . . . who happens to be a NEUROSCIENTIST with a PhD.

According to his LinkedIn page he studied brain sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  And he's worked at Dartmouth, Boston University, and the University of California, San Diego.  He was also in the Marines before that.

They arrested him last Tuesday after he tried to rob a Navy Federal Credit Union about 15 miles north of San Diego.

He's facing seven counts of bank robbery and two counts of attempted bank robbery.  And he could get nearly 15 years in prison if he's convicted.
