Lifetime To Produce Salt-n-Pepa Biopic Miniseries
Salt-n-Pepa’s self-titled story is coming to television.
Yesterday (Mar. 27), Lifetime made the announcement at the cable network’s upfront presentation at New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Lifetime also announced the making of gospel group The Clark Sisters’ biopic miniseries at the event, reports Variety.
Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit will be producing both projects.
Salt-n-Pepa’s biopic miniseries will center on Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton’s rise to fame in hip-hop while also featuring their hits including “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “Whatta Man,” and “Shoop.”
James, Denton, Latifah, Jessie Collins, and Shakim Compere are executive producers.
Latifah, Mary J. Blige, and Missy Elliott will be executive producing The Clark Sisters’ biopic titled The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel.
In addition to announcing the two biopics, Lifetime also announced the production of their documentary film series, Hopelessly In Love, tracing the tragic love story of some of the world’s famous couples like The Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Andre Rison, and Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead, among others.
