On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will begin accepting applications from people interested in participating in an industrial hemp pilot project.

Like marijuana, hemp is a cannabis plant but with lower THC levels, the active ingredient in cannabis that gets users high.  Unlike marijuana, the hemp stalks and fibers are used for clothing, paper and other medical uses for CBD.

The state will hold on-site registration events over the next two weeks. The events will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as April 29-30, at the MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Exchange, 4301 Farm Lane, Lansing.
