Empire made television history last night (Apr. 24).

The Wedding | Season 5 | EMPIRE

Which is your favorite EMPIRE wedding? Taraji P. Henson, Serayah, Gabby Sidibe and Chaka Khan talk weddings and take you behind the scenes of EMPIRE's big event.

The Fox drama did so by becoming the first network television show to air a black gay wedding.

Jussie Smollett’s character Jamal and Toby Onwumere’s character, Jamal’s fiance Kai tied the knot in the episode titled “Never Doubt I Love.”

The historical episode featured a cameo from the legendary Chaka Khan, who performed at the fictional wedding. Mario, who is currently trekking the nation on the Millennium Tour and Wood Harris were also in attendance.

“Today’s wedding is special and controversial,” Khan said. “But my answer to all that is just love is love.”

Taraji P. Henson pegged the ceremony as “the best Empire wedding.”
