A social media user noticed that a clothing label for a Fashion Nova item came with a cancer warning.
The tag on the inside of a swimsuit read, this product can expose you to Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, lead and cadmium which are known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm.
While this caused alarm, many were quick to point out the warning is posted on a number of products sold in California. Fashion Nova is headquartered in California.
Proposition 65 in California mandates companies to disclose if their products contain any potentially toxic chemicals.
The label is on a lot of items in California.
