Eminem’s Father Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr. Dead At 67
Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr. (age 67) passed away this week near Fort Wayne, Indiana. It has been reported that he suffered a heart attack while in his home.
Eminem (Marshall Bruce Mathers III) made his feelings towards his father pretty clear in songs like “My Name Is” and “Cleanin’ Out My Closet.”
Mathers Jr. married Eminem’s mother Deborah Mathers when he was 22 and she was 15. Their son, Marshall (Eminem), came along two years later.
After they spit, Eminem and his mother settled to Detroit with her family while Bruce moved to California and fathered two other children.
In 2001, Bruce published a letter addressed to his son in a newspaper that accused Em’s mother, Debbie, of keeping him away.
Eminem has said in interviews that he has never actually met his biological father and his letters to his dad always came back “return to sender.”
