The National Weather Service has issued a excessive heat warning for southeast Michigan. Temperatures will be in the mid 90s for Friday with a heat index ranging from 100 to 110 degrees during the afternoon hours of high sun.

The latest forecast has the heat index hitting 107 degrees in Detroit, 109 in Ann Arbor, 107 in Flint and 106 in Lansing.

The excessive heat warning will be in effect until 8 p.m. on Saturday.

The NWS advises extra precautions as low temperatures will fall only to the mid to upper 70s each night, so the heat will be nonstop.
