Jermaine Dupri thinks the new female rappers create “Stripper Rap”
JD describes the sound of today’s female rappers as “Strap” or Stripper Rap!
In an interview with Atlanta Black Star, JD gave a recap on his previous comments and said that he doesn’t have a a favorite female rapper and that they all make stripper music!
JD believes that they should create a new genre called “strap” in short for stripper rap.
“What people don’t understand is that I actually believe that women that do this type of music should start calling it ‘strap’,” he says. “I think just like we have trap, they should call it strap.”
JD says he doesn’t mean any harm, but wants female rappers to embrace the concept and empower the type of music they like to create.
“I was on an episode of Love & Hip Hop and Mimi brought her artists to see me and she was a stripper,” he says. “And in that episode I was thinking concept. I told her her music sounds like stripper fight music and she should create that genre.”
JD thinks the genre would be just like anything else that has developed over the years including Lil Jon’s crunk music, and Dem Franchise Boyz’ snap music.
Many female rappers have been displeased with his comments and have come to the defense of their records, but JD says he said what he said!
“Of course they have different sounds, but I can’t really pick. favorite based on that,” he says. “But to me, if I recited a verse you’ll see what I’m talking about.”
What do you think about JD’s observation on today’s female hip-hop?
