When fans of the STARZ hit show Power used to hear, “They say this is a big, rich town ( yeah, yeah), and I just come from the poorest part (oh), bright lights, city life, I gotta make it,” that was sung by R&B singer Joe, it brought about excitement.
However, over the weekend, the first episode of the final season of Power premiered, and most fans were not only surprised by the change of the show’s popular theme song, but many were also displeased by it.
The remix of the original theme song, which is a bit jazzier than the original version was performed by 50 Cent, Trey Songz, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
In true 50 Cent-fashion, the rapper, film producer, actor, and entrepreneur took to Instagram to address the new theme song’s criticism on Sunday (Aug. 25).
In a video, 50 cent said, ” These motherf**kers talking about Trey Songz. Man, you ain’t bought a motherf**king Joe CD in years. Now, you talking about Trey Songz.”
“Trey did that sh*t as a favor for me, man. Sh*t! Y’all keep this sh*t up. F**k it! I’mma have to put that motherf**cker back the way it was.”
“Y’all better STOP this bullsh*t right now,” the “In Da Club” rapper wrote as the caption of his video.
On Monday (Aug. 26), 50 Cent took to Instagram again to continue the conversation. He shared a photograph of Joe wearing a green suit with “Joe’s Voice Matters #Power” written in white letters against a black background above it.
“Yo @treysongz looked at me like, what you want to do to the song. I’m like let’s just update it. It’s 6 years old. He was like okay if you say so 50,” he wrote as his caption.
