Popeyes is out of chicken sandwiches, many people waiting in line for hours to get one! What a perfect opportunity to talk to people.

This Charlotte teen thought it would be a good idea to do something positive with the chicken sandwich frenzy.

David Ledbetter decided he would take advantage of the long drive-thru lines to get people registered to vote. The Charlotte teen says his interest in getting others politically involved was sparked after being one of the only young people in attendance at a recent caucus meeting in his hometown. “I once attended a caucus meeting in Charlotte and I noticed the lack of young people present. I wanted to start an initiative to allow more youth to become politically involved so I thought registering people to vote and handing out information on voting would be the best way to engage.”

Even though most of the people in line had already been registered to vote, he was able to register 16 new people!

David himself won’t be able to vote until he turns 18 next March, but he says that he plans to continue hitting up Popeyes to make sure young people are informed and registered.

Today we were registering individuals to vote while they were waiting in line to try the @popeyeslouisianakitchen chicken sandwich. Make sure you're registered to vote!✊???????????? @sneed4schoolboard
