Actress LisaRaye McCoy was recently crowned the Queen Mother of Ghana. The actress and philanthropist was awarded the honor at a ceremony that took place in Los Angeles at the Cicada Restaurant & Club, the day before her birthday (Sept. 22).

The ceremony, which is formally known as “enstoolment” was presided over by King Yahweh, and McCoy was made a Queen Nana due to her humanitarian work in Ghana, as The Source reports.

McCoy was handpicked to be queen by the Paramount Chief of Agona Kwanyako, the chiefs, and the entire Kyidom Traditional Divisional Councils.

“I plan to do all that I can by using my platform to bring positive attention to this region. I will serve humbly,” McCoy said of the honor.

“I’ve had lots of accomplishments in my life, personally and professionally, but I didn’t get to his point alone. It’s taken a great team, of people along the way. To have such an honor bestowed upon me by my own African people is a testament to my hard work and character. It’s like a dream come true before my very eyes.”

McCoy took to Instagram to share photos and footage from the enstoolment. “It’s all good. Crowning of Queen Mother of Ghana w/my family last nite. Simply Beautiful #LifeRocks #BirthdayWeekend,” she wrote as her caption.
