The University of Kentucky has partnered with Gen G Esports to help construct their esports program. Gen G will assist in developing the competitive gaming scene at UK, as well as consult on creating a space for players to train and compete. This marks the first instance of a major University partnering with an established professional esports team to work on their program.

In addition, Gen G will help construct academic programs surrounding the esports space. This is an area that still lags behind in North America, as most programs focus mainly on the competitive aspect. For North American esports to continue growing, more attention will need to be placed on the back end and presentation aspects of esports.
