Everyone was talking about Disney+ on launch day. I signed up, likely you signed up because Disney+ hit 10 million subscribers in its first day!

The app had been downloaded more than 3.2 million times. This comes despite the problems that the app had on its first day. The Star Wars’ show. The Mandalorian of course was the top show streamed.

Analysts predicted that Disney would see 10-18 million subscribers in its first year and they’ve already done half of those numbers within the first 24 hours. INSANE.

Netflix clearly caught wind of all the talk and they responded 24 hours later announcing a partnership with Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon and Netflix announced a multi-year deal to produce original animated content based on the Nickelodeon library and new characters. We don’t have a lot of details yet, but the two have worked together in the past to bring reboots of Invader Zim and Rocko’s Modern Life. There’s also supposed to be a new Avatar series.

Even though Viacom (who owns Nickelodeon) has their own streaming service, they’re working together to challenge Disney+ and help slow down that sensation.

Nick has been working on new content like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot and Blue’s Clues remake.

I’ll be excited for this partnership if they also put up classic Nick shows and movies in addition to creating new content. The reason why a lot of people are hype about Disney+ is because of all of its classic content that a lot of us haven’t seen since we watched Disney Channel back in the day.

Let the battle begin!
