Do You Agree With Congress To Raise Tobacco Age To 21?
On Thursday, December 19, 2019, Congress passed a bill to raise the age to purchase and consume tobacco from 18 to 21 years old. Although some states already made the decision to raise the minimum tobacco age, the bill would be a nationwide affair. The new bill is said to take effect towards the end of summer 2020.
The news of the bill comes shortly after the ban and re-admittance of e-cigs and vapes from President Trump. Ultimately, the move was made to manage the number of youth that are getting access to tobacco and having lung-related illnesses.
Do you agree with the decision to raise the age? Will it be a good solution to the nationwide problem? Should they change the age to drink alcohol too?
