[WATCH] Jennifer Hudson Stars In Aretha Franklin Biopic Trailer
NEW YORK, NY - APRIL 19: Aretha Franklin performs onstage during the "Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives" Premiere Concert during the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival at Radio City Music Hall on April 19, 2017 in New York City.
The less than 60-second trailer hasn’t been out for a week and it is already receiving heavy criticism. Jennifer Hudson stars as the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, in the upcoming biopic, RESPECT, anticipated to release in the late summer, early fall of 2020. As the trailer debuted, social media took aim and had plenty to say but most of it seemed to be good.
As far as judging a book by it’s cover, this may be a perfect example but after seeing the preview some people are giving J-Hud an Oscar nod for her work as the Queen. On the other hand, some of the criticism was non-constructive with mentions of her singing voice being too loud for surround sound.
