The Global Association of International Sports Federation (GAISF)—the umbrella organization that houses all Olympic and non-Olympic sports federations—has granted the International Pole Sports Federation official observer status, which internationally recognizes and legitimizes a sport.

This recognition is the first step in pole dancing getting closer to being apart of the Olympic Games! Next, the sport would have to be recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which can take several years.

Getting pole recognised has been something I've been working on daily for the last 12 years...people said it would never happen but as always I never listened...the @ipsfpolesports are closer still! The argument for making pole dancing a sport is the skill it takes to be good at it. I won’t deny that it takes true talent and I give kudos to those who can do it, but I just don’t like the idea of my daughter learning how to pole dance at a young age. Maybe it’s because of the stigma and the image I see in my head of a girl pole dancing. I think stripper and thirsty ass guy!

Would you be cool with your daughter taking on a pole dancing class?
