Michigan Residents Plan Protest against Stay-at-Home Order
Last week, Governor Gretchen Whitmer extended her previous stay-at-home orders through April 30th and added several new restrictions — including a ban on visiting neighbors and family members. Now a group of protesters is saying she went way too far.
The Michigan Conservative Coalition and Michigan Freedom Fund has rallied residents to voice their opposition to the restrictive order in an upcoming protest at the state’s Capitol. While Wednesday’s planned demonstration is expected to include hundreds of people displaying signs, it will differ from traditional protests in that the participants will “march” in their vehicles.
The coalition says it hopes to cause a “major traffic jam” to draw attention to Whitmer’s “erratic, unilateral orders that threaten Michiganders’ economic existence.” The protest is scheduled to begin at noon on Wednesday, the group says.
Did the governor go overboard with her revised order? Or has she done what the other 49 governors need to do to stop the virus from spreading?
