BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA - JULY 26: Dave East of 'Wu-Tang: An American Saga' speaks onstage during the Hulu segment of the Summer 2019 Television Critics Association Press Tour at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on July 26, 2019 in Beverly Hills, California.

Early Friday morning (May 22), rapper Dave East, 31, was pulled over by NYPD and cited for possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct, as NBC New York reports.

According to police, the rapper, whose given name is David Brewster, was sitting in the backseat of an SUV that didn’t use a turn signal before entering Queensbridge Houses.

The driver was compliant and wasn’t issued any tickets. However, East and another passenger became combative after they were asked to show identification, according to law enforcement.

Officers said that they discovered over half a dozen bags of marijuana inside of the vehicle. A video that was shared on Dave East’s Instagram page shows the rapper being escorted by cops with his hands behind his back. Only one police officer appeared to be wearing a mask.

In the video, a group of people is also seen crowding around the incident. One person can be heard saying, “This is harassment.” Cops took Dave East back to the 114th police station where they issued the rapper and the other passenger two summons for criminal possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.
