Carole Baskin Granted Control of Joe Exotic’s Former Zoo
What a plot twist!!
The very damn thing that Joe Exotic was afraid of happening has happened as Carole Baskin is granted control of the G.W. Zoo in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. The current owner, Jeff Lowe (who I went to go see) has 120 days to vacate the property and that includes getting all of his animals off the property as well. A judge who gave her control found that the property was fraudulently transferred to Joe’s mother years ago.
According to People Magazine, in a complaint filed in February 2016, Big Cat Rescue sued Maldonado-Passage’s mother, Shirley M. Schreibvogel, alleging that the transfer of the Oklahoma zoo was fraudulent.
“Schreibvogel later admitted under oath that the zoo land was transferred to her by Joe Maldonado to remove it from the reach of creditors, including BCR, should BCR win its Florida lawsuit,” the complaint said, according to the Courthouse News Service. Schreibvogel allegedly admitted in 2015 that “the zoo land was fraudulently transferred to her by Joe Maldonado in 2011 to avoid his creditors,” according to the outlet.
Of course we know that Joe Exotic is still locked up and serving his 22-year prison sentence for hiring a hitman to kill Carole Baskin and for various animal abuse charges. I am sure his head is spinning behind bars. If Joe somehow is freed, this would make for EXCELLENT television.
The one question remains. Did she kill her husband though??
