A Detroit teenager is getting a lot of recognition these past couple of days for bringing calm to protests in Detroit on Monday night.
Stefan Perez, a 16-year-old from Southwest Detroit, stood with a megaphone between protesters and police Monday night and urged people to stay clam and stay safe…

“The fact that I was able to put my hand up and stop everybody from causing trouble here tonight, I look back and smile at that moment,” said Perez, who is not affiliated with any political organization. “The people followed me into battle and I’m glad that I was able to get them home safely.”
Mayor Duggan calling the teen to thank him saying…”Stefan, I was watching the video, and I saw your leadership, I have tears in my eyes,” the mayor said. “You are everything that is special about the city of Detroit.”
