We’re seeing changes with companies everywhere including in sports as the NFL has made a statement.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to staff today indicating that the NFL will now observe Juneteenth (June 19th) as a league holiday and that offices will be closed.

Juneteenth is the celebration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Back in 1865 on June 19, Union soldiers landed in Texas with the news that the Civil War was over and that slaves would be freed.

I feel like the NFL is finally starting to open its eyes and make changes and realize the social injustice in this country. Of course when you think NFL, you think about the Kaepernick situation and kneeling. We’ve come a long way since then and I’m happy to see this announcement being made.

Could we see other businesses start to recognize Juneteenth?
