As cases begin to spike, Amazon and Lowe’s have stepped out to take care of their front-line employees.
Fox 2 Detroit:
Amazon will provide a one-time “thank you” bonus to all employees of Amazon and Whole Foods Market and partners who have been with the company since at least June 1st.
Full-time Amazon employees, Whole Foods Market employees and delivery service partner drivers will all receive a $500 bonus, while part-timers will receive $250. All Amazon and Whole Foods Market leaders will receive a $1,000 bonus, owners of delivery service partners will get $3,000, and each Amazon Flex driver with more than 10 hours in June will receive $150. This will total more than $500 million.
As far as Lowe’s goes, in mid-July, full-time hourly employees will receive $500. Part-time and seasonal associates will receive $150 which matches previous bonuses provided to all hourly associates in both March and May. This will total more than $100 million.
Other companies such as Walmart and Target also gave employees bonuses in the past.
These bonuses come after cases are starting to spike. There are 38,000 new infections as of Monday, the 29th. Experts think the numbers are actually higher since many people show no symptoms.
