5 People Arrested In Connection To The Murder of Pop Smoke
According to Los Angeles police, five people have been arrested in connection to the murder of Pop Smoke whose given name is Bashar Jackson, as NPR reports.
On Thursday (July 8), the Los Angeles Police Department announced that three men and two juvenile males were arrested. The Robbery-Homicide Division currently has them arrested, according to a department spokesperson.
“Early this morning search and arrest warrants were served on several locations in Los Angeles,” Officer Norma Eisenman said.
The names of the people who were arrested will be released after they are questioned and booked, Eisenman added. However, law enforcement did not give details about what crimes the assailants are suspected of committing. “We will provide further details as they become available,” the department said.
As we previously reported, Pop Smoke was 20 years old when the Brooklyn rapper was found wounded by gunfire in a house in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood on Feb. 19.
The rapper was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and later pronounced dead. The house, a property that Pop Smoke rented, had been broken into, according to initial reports.
Pop Smoke was mostly known for his popular single “Welcome to the Party.” Earlier this month, the rapper’s posthumous debut album, Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon was released.
