The FDA’s list of dangerous hand sanitizers has increased to more than 100. Previously, the Food and Drug Administration warned of products containing methanol… toxic through skin absorption and even deadly if ingested. Now, they are warning of hand sanitizers which don’t contain enough alcohol. The CDC recommends at least 60% alcohol. Most of the subpar products are made in Mexico. 7-2-2020] FDA is warning consumers and health care providers that the agency has seen a sharp increase in hand sanitizer products that are labeled to contain ethanol (also known as ethyl alcohol) but that have tested positive for methanol contamination.
