Joe Dumars Fieldhouse Closing Its Doors!!
This is sad news. After 25 years entertaining kids, providing athletic programs and giving the people of Metro Detroit a fun place to hang out, Joe Dumars Fieldhouse is closing it’s doors.
Managing partner, Brian D. Siegal, citing the pandemic as the reason for the closure, saying “We respect the governor’s desire to keep everybody safe, but I think the indeterminate nature of the length of that closure put a burden on our lease that we couldn’t sustain forever.'”
Beloved Detroit Piston, Joe Dumars, opening the Fieldhouse 25 years ago…
“Thank you for taking the time to consider “getting into the game” at the Fieldhouse. As you know, I have a vested interest in the Detroit area. Not only has it been the cradle of my career as an athlete and businessman, it has also become the permanent home for my family. With people spending an increasing amount of time in front of a television or a computer, I can’t think of a more important local institution than the community recreation center. At Joe Dumars Fieldhouse in Shelby Township, along with Joe Dumars Fieldhouse in Detroit, we are committed to providing first-class activity-based facilities and programs for people of all ages and backgrounds in the larger Detroit Community.”
Joe Dumars Fieldhouse gave so many of us a place to play basketball, roller hockey, and volleyball.
