Earlier this week Mayor Duggan offered a new clue about the location of the city’s upcoming fireworks show, which officials hope most folks will watch on television because of coronavirus.

In the past, Detroit’s riverfront served as the back drop for the display. However, the event was postponed because of the pandemic. The rescheduled date is this Monday August 31st.

Duggan said in a news conference that Monday’s show actually will be 20 miles away at an undisclosed suburban location.

“Please enjoy them on TV but don’t come down looking for them here,” Duggan said. “They won’t be here.”

The show will broadcast on WDIV-TV (Channel 4) and will honor frontline workers and heroes of the COVID-19 crisis.

Below is a look back at last years event.
