NEW YORK, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 12: The crown worn by Notorious B.I.G. when photographed by Barron Claiborne as the King of New York is displayed during a preview at Sotheby's for their Inaugural HIP HOP Auction on September 12, 2020 in New York City. A celebration of the history and cultural impact of Hip Hop, the sale reflects on the impact the movement has had on art and culture from the late 1970s through the "Golden Age" of the mid-1980s to mid-1990s, and up to the present. How much would you spend for a piece of Hip-Hop history cause I don’t got this kind of cash!

Notorious B.I.G.’s King Of New York crown sold for $594,750 at a Sotheby’s auction on Tuesday.

The crown is plastic but significant because Biggie wore the crown in the famous photo shoot that happened 3 days before he was killed in 1997. It also has the signatures of BIG and the photographer Barron Claibourne.

The crown was predicted to sell for $200,000 to $300,000. Even at THAT price, I’m not coming close to being able to afford that.

A handwritten love letter from Tupac sold for $60,000 at the first-ever all Hip-Hop auction.

I find it amazing how much these items are worth, but I’m not entirely surprised!
