A whopping 45 animal shelters in Michigan are teaming up for Empty the Shelters, an event offering adoption fees much reduced Thursday, Oct. 1, through Sunday, Oct. 4.

The reduced fee to adopt a pet will be $25 or less.

If you’re interested in adopting a pet, bring along along the fee, your driver’s license or state identification and be ready to complete an application.

Shelters participating in the event include the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center, Detroit Dog Rescue in Warren, Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control in Detroit, Friends For Animals of Metro Detroit in Dearborn, Saving Cats & Kittens in Michigan in Livonia, Do Only Good Animal Rescue. Humane Society of Monroe County in Monroe and more.

If you’re interested in participating, call your local shelter to inquire about what they have lined up for the event.
