Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty In Handgun Case, And Is Also Getting Sued For $20 Million
As previously reported, Lil Wayne is in hot water over gun charges. The rapper was charged with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. This was after he was caught with a loaded weapon while on a private jet to Miami.
Now TMZ states that he has plead guilty.
Lil Wayne’s sentencing is scheduled for next month, and he could face up to ten years in prison.
The outlet adds, though, that he may catch a break. “He’s likely to get leniency. Our sources say Wayne agreed to the guilty plea and in exchange, the government agreed to recommend a lighter sentence because he’s accepting responsibility. Ultimately, his sentence will be up to a judge, but it’s a good sign for Tunechi.”
Lil Wayne is also dealing with another legal battle as he is getting sued by his former manager for $20 million. According to XXL, Ronald Sweeney, his ex-manager, filed a lawsuit accusing him of breaching an oral contract and failing to pay owed commissions.
Sweeney worked with Lil Wayne since 2005 and was by his side through drama with Cash Money Records and Universal Music Group SoundExchange, and various other business dealings. There was later conflict, and Sweeney was fired in 2018.
The outlet states that he is now suing for breach of oral contract, fraudulent inducement, unjust enrichment, quantum merit, and accounting.
