- His stage name was inspired by author Iceberg Slim (the pen name of Robert Maupin Beck III)
- After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Army for four years.
- He got his big break in the 1984 break-dancing film, Breakin’
- He joined the cast of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in the second season, after a four episode guest arc turned in a regular position
- Ice-T wrote the introduction to the author’s posthumously released novel Doom Fox
- He recorded heavy metal tracks with the band ‘Body Count’ and rapped as a guest artist on the Black Sabbath album Forbidden (in 1995)
- Launched a clothing line, IceWear, in 2005
