Bobby Shmurda Released From Prison Early
Ackquille Jean Pollard, also known as rapper Bobby Shmurda, was released just before 8:30 Tuesday morning from New York’s infamous Clinton Correctional Facility, about 10 months earlier than expected, gossip web site TMZ reports.
Shmurda got his conditional release date moved up by the prison’s Time Allowance Committee, which made the call after reviewing his behavior and participation in prison programs. By staying out of trouble in the prison, Shmurda was granted early release.
Shmurda had an eventful time during his time in jail, racking up 11 violations, including allegedly having a shank, drug possession and fighting, but somehow he turned things around and was granted an early release.
Shmurda had been in custody since December 2014 based on gang conspiracy charges. Prosecutors claimed the rapper had a leading role in the GS9 gang in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The arrest came shortly after the massive popularity surrounding his hit “Hot N—-.” According to Pitchfork, Shmurda signed a massive record deal with Epic Records at 19-years-old. It was in September 2016 that he accepted a plea deal that resulted in a sentencing of six to seven years in prison. The agreement was admitting to conspiracy to possess weapons and possession of a weapon. He got credit for around 2 years of time served before the sentence.
He will now be under parole supervision for the next five years, until February 23, 2026.
