David Foster, 71, And Katharine McPhee, 36, Welcome Their First Child
Katharine McPhee, 36, has welcomed her first child, a son, with 71-year-old husband David Foster. The name of their child has not been released yet, but the couple confirmed with People that they had a healthy baby boy, saying, “Mom, Dad and son are all doing wonderfully.”
Katharine had previously hinted she was expecting a boy back in December, when she posted a picture of herself wearing a blue coat showing off her baby bump on Instagram.
The couple first met in 2006, when Foster mentored McPhee and other contestants on season 5 of American Idol. Foster produced her first single.
They were first romantically linked in May 2017 when the two were enjoying a PDA-filled dinner at Nobu in Malibu. It wasn’t until the 2018 MET Gala that the couple confirmed their romance when they walked hand-in-hand.
Shortly after the couple’s wedding in June 2019, Katharine decided to take David’s surname because she loved the “traditional” nature of taking a partner’s last name, according to Daily Mail. Foster is already father to five daughters: Allison, 50, and Amy, 47, Sara, 40, Erin, 38, and Jordan, 34, from previous relationships.
People on Twitter had some things to say of the couple’s age gap and their baby news:
Their age difference makes me think of your initials....EW

David's going to have trouble not referring to it as his great grandchild.

This sounds soo weird lol. That baby is 50 years younger than his first child. That baby has a sister that can be her grandma.
