Bill Would Let Michigan Bars Stay Open Until 4 a.m.

Michigan lawmakers are proposing a bill that would keep bars and restaurants open a few hours later than normal- 4 a.m., to be exact.
Right now, there’s a 10 p.m. curfew on bars and restaurants because of coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions. Before the pandemic, alcohol sales at bars and restaurants would stop at 2 a.m.
Republican Representative Ryan Berman is sponsoring the bill. He recently testified in front of a state House committee, stating that approving the two-hour extension would help bars and restaurants financially recover after COVID-19 is behind us.
Some organizations oppose the bill, due to concerns about drinking and driving and addiction being aggrivated by extending the hours.
Time will tell if the bill comes to fruition.
