2021 Detroit Grand Prix Opening Up Thousands of Seats Following New Guidelines
The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix is back, and it’ll be a big one.
The event, presented by Lear, will take place on Belle Isle this summer and host more than than planned, since Michigan recently changed its COVID-19 guidelines.
The 2021 Detroit Grand Prix was on target to bring 6,000-9,000 people to the venue per day day during the event.
Now, following the relaxed restrictions, event organizers say thousands additional fans will be able to attend.
The event is set for June 11 through 13 at Belle Isle Park.
“We are so excited that we will be able to welcome more fans back to Belle Isle to experience the Grand Prix June 11-13 with the restrictions on outdoor venues being lifted in the state of Michigan,” Michael Montri, President of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear, said in a statement.
“With vaccinations continuing and positivity rates improving across the state, this is another strong indication that we are moving in a positive direction in Michigan.”
Starting June 1, Michigan will lift all outdoor capacity limits.
Michigan officials say that fully vaccinated people don’t need to wear masks or socially distance indoors or outdoors in most situations, following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
