Candace Parker is scoring on and off the court. Parker, 35, is making history as the first woman to cover the top-selling NBA 2K video game.

The Chicago Sky player tweeted out her excitement on the cover, “Extremely proud and humbled to be the first female cover athlete in the history of @NBA2K I’m honored to work with a company that’s investing in women and betting on us to succeed. I’m hopeful there will be many more bada** females to follow.”

The two-time WNBA MVP spoke to the Associated Press per ESPN about the honor she carries as being the first woman to be on the cover and what that means for the future of the WNBA.

“I think most importantly it speaks to visibility and how important it is and how important the WNBA is…Now more than ever, fans want to follow the athlete. Through social media, through video games, it’s adding and benefiting the WNBA,” Parker said.

Parker’s cover will be celebrating the WNBA’s 25th anniversary in a special edition. The game is set to go on sale Sept. 10.
