Jay-Z Officially Joins Instagram, Follows Just One Person
It’s official! Jay-Z is now on Instagram. You can now follow the Grammy award winnning rapper under the handle “@jayz.”
It might be hard to get a follow back from the Brooklyn native; at the moment he only follows his wife Beyoncé who, in turn, only follows him. Within the few hours he’s been on Instagram, the rapper already has 1.8 million followers.
The rapper’s first post is of the film The Harder They Fall which premieres on Netflix Wednesday (Nov. 3). Hov has two original songs on the film’s soundtrack with collaborations from other artists. “Guns Go Bang” features Kid Cudi and “King Kong Riddim (ft BackRoad Gee)” is a collaboration between Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Conway The Machine and BlackRoad Gee, per Newsweek.
Hov likes to keep a low profile on social media and only uses his Twitter account on rare occasions. He’s been recently more active since his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction Saturday but he usually only uses it to promote new business ventures such as business mogul Jack Dorsey’s company Square buying a percentage of Jay’s streaming service Tidal.
Jack is one of the greatest minds of our times, and our many discussions about TIDAL’s endless possibilities have made me even more inspired about its future. This shared vision makes me even more excited to join the Square board.

See how fans are reacting to Jay joining Instagram:
Jay Z really became the first person in the world to be followed by Beyoncé on Instagram. She hasn’t followed anyone since she made the account in 2012.

I want jay z posting his rich life on Instagram, I don’t want him to be humble and post his business ads. I want full out influencer

Now that Jay Z has an Instagram account & is the only person that Beyoncé follows, I can’t help but to think of the Close Friends stories that he gets to see that we’re missing out on. pic.twitter.com/2fBBFwRPlp
